Episode 12 and ...

What's new...? Life happens...

Please note: Last few months have been unexpectedly hectic. The "hectic" being an indication that I am a master of understatement. Mostly attributable to an excess of workload.

Hopefully, the circumstances look like clearing ahead and very soon the craziness may be over and I'll try to get back on track as soon as I can. It's possible that I'll release several episodes at once or at least withing short span of time, to make up for lost time.

The best way to get informed is to register, so I may be able to send you an email once the episodes are posted.

Update pending.

F05E01 - "Discovery"

Why this is here you can read about in What is TCC?
For a peek into a writing cookbook as episodes or the whole TCC are concerned , see Writer's Room.
For more in-depth discussion of episodes, see Forum.
You'll find new episodes posted at Episodes, but also through top menu and a side menu. You can't miss it!

Without a further ado... ACTION!

Hi!

I am glad someone is continuing with the story! I've found TCW just a week ago and read it all. It brought a kind of closure to the gaping hole that was created in TSCC.

I noticed that you've had some input in the F04, so I presume that you will continue in the spirit or mold of TCW. I like where this is going, but have some questions.

First, why you've chosen to go as far into the future in the first segment? Is it because the segment contains some key information that is essential for the overall story? Or is this where the story reconnects at some point later?

Second, what is SRO (or SROs)? I think S = Skynet, and O = Object. Not sure what R stands for.

Third, the segment with John and Cameron seems to be a bit... idylic. I think you wrote it that way to create a contrast with something that is coming, correct? I hope it is not something very bad!

One observation... CW seems to be a bit different. Not sure why. It is not her patterns of thinking, they seem to be in the mold from the F04. It is something I can't pinpoint. Perhaps the way she constructs sentences. Is it intentional?

I hope you don't mind my curiosity!

Looking forward to reading many seasons of the Connors' saga!

Lamaux, thanks for the comment, it's a first!

As for the continuity between F04 and F05, that's affirmative. There won't be anything that breaks the connection. I won't be using any TDEs, at least not in F05 and as for FG06, that is not certain, but likely I skip them as well. I don't need them as plot devices--that is the main reason they were used in the TSCC, with a mixed degree of success. I may use some non-linear causality elements, but only as references to timelines that are within the experience of the characters. The initial jump into 2231 is one of these non-linear devices I allow to myself.

Everything in F05 has to have its roots in the F03/F04.

The initial segment from 2231 has two functions--to introduce certain concepts and t is also a node of reconnection as you presumed, likely at the end of F06. As the functions go, one is apparent, the fight with Skynet or its remnants would likely go on for centuries.

SRO, yes, correct as S and O goes. The R stands for residual.

Regarding the segment with John and Cameron, I don't want to venture into a spoiler territory, let's just say that you are right about the contrast as a device deployed there.

CW--yes, you are a good observer. Another reader sent me a comment of a similar nature, a bit more precise in the assessment of what is specifically different. Two reasons here. One is that English is not my first language, and it is not easy for me to capture CW's Celtic rhythm. I am getting a help in that area, so there may be a revision of the E01 to get CW more into her former mold. On the other hand, she is an evolving entity. I don't want to bind her to a certain pattern that was initially necessary as she need to be as close to the original CW as possible. I'd like to keep her Celtic pattern as a substrate, but add a more inclusive character to her expressions.

It parallels my experience. When I was immersed into English by my arrival in North America in 1984, my accent was rather thick. Throughout the years, it got the edges polished out, and to a degree, I am influenced in my speech patterns by regional characteristics . I lived in TX and OK for a while, and it resulted in this interesting hybrid of my former accent with the regional patterns. I moved back to Canada in 2006, and my accent is again changing to adapt to the local patterns. I would expect CW to change her pattern too, after years spent in North America.

And no, I don't mind curiosity, in fact, I welcome it!

Hope F05 and F06 will be a good read for you. I am not sure if I'll continue after F06, but nothing is set in stone.

Glad I had found these! I'm still reading season 4 and am excited to get started with season 5. I'd like to say thank you for putting the effort into creating these works. I'm sure i'll have great things to say when I finish reading Episode F05E01.

One question I did have was if there was any way to obtain a .pdf of the episodes, I typically read them while on the train from my cellular makes my commutes bearable. If not no worries, i'm just glad that the series continues! Thank you once again and keep up the great work.

gm, if you don't mean all the current episodes in one PDF, then look in the right column on the home page under Direct PDF Download. You can make a bookmark and then pull it in when you need it.
